Why Regenerative Grazing?
And why raise your own meat, for that matter?
Well, as Josh Thomas explains, there are many reasons…
First, as noted above, the modern, industrial way of raising animals for meat is bad for the animals.
A half century ago, a large factory farm might have raised 100,000 chickens per year. Now, many will raise millions at a time, crammed in tiny, suffocating spaces. The U.S. egg industry goes through about 388 million chickens per year. And the poultry industry slaughtered 9 BILLION factory-farmed chickens in 2022.
The chicken industry alone creates enormous waste, chemical runoff, and antibiotic usage. And ALL factory farming creates demand for genetically modified, herbicide-treated feed.
Who wants to be part of that? Who wants to eat that?
Modern meat practices are bad for animals. But they are also bad for us, and bad for the land we’ve been given to steward.
And it’s bad for your resilience. Only a few companies control the meat you eat, so every dollar you spend on their meat empowers them, not you.
Regenerative homestead grazing is the answer. It creates healthy pasture, happy animals, and healthy food for you and your loved ones.
And once you have your own meat (and nutrient-rich pastured dairy) locked in, you are one BIG step closer to food independence. Given the world we live in, that creates welcome peace of mind.
