Meet Your Instructor:
David the Good

Hi, I'm David the Good.

I began gardening when I was six years old. My kindergarten teacher had us plant beans and dixie cups of soil and take them home to see what happened. When those beans came up, I was hooked. I begged my parents for a garden, and my dad put in an eight-foot by eight-foot square of railroad ties in the backyard for my very first garden bed. The next year, they took me out of school to homeschool me, and I had lots of time to grow plants.

Over the years, I've killed more plants than most people have ever grown. Year after year, I've experimented with different crops and done my best to try and figure out what would thrive in the heat and sand of South Florida, where I grew up.

Then I got married, and my wife and I had 11 children over the years, so growing food, nutritious food, became increasingly important.

Now I can’t wait to be here with you at the School of Traditional Skills. Let’s Get Growing!
